Audi employs people from over 100 nations. Their language and cultural skills are the key to new markets and target groups. Only with a cosmopolitan mindset can Audi remain sustainable.

Generational diversity

Five different generations work together in our company. This kind of generational diversity can present points of friction. But teams with a mix of ages have proven to lead to greater productivity. Combining a wealth of experience and resilience, life experience and creativity results in great added value for the company.


Audi views the topic of inclusion within the context of comprehensive integration management. Social responsibility and our special commitment to our employees are in the spotlight here. The focus of attention here is not on the deficits of the individual employee but rather on their strengths and potential. Barriers are also to be dismantled so that people with severe disabilities also enjoy access to the Audi working world as a matter of course.


We are striving to steadily increase the proportion of women, especially in divisions where the focus is on technology. In order to get girls and young women interested in technology and the Audi brand from an early stage in their career orientation, we actively participate in programs like Girls’ Day and the Women in Research Camp.

The Chefsache initiative, with which we are involved, is committed to equal opportunities for women and men in management. Top managers from industry, science, the public sector and the media lead the network. We are constantly striving to increase the proportion of women in the company, especially in technical divisions. With a variety of seminars and mentoring programmes, Audi supports talented and performance-oriented female employees from all divisions and levels on their career path.

Audi is a signatory to the ‘Charta der Vielfalt’, the German Diversity Charter. We are therefore committed to promoting diversity actively and to nurturing an organisational culture that is characterised by mutual respect and appreciation. Audi held its first Diversity Day in 2017. Since then, we have used the occasion each year to fly the flag for diversity with different formats. The next Diversity Day takes place on May 28, 2019.

The 'UnternehmensForum'

By joining the ‘UnternehmensForum’ (an association of German companies for the promotion of inclusion in the workplace) in 2018, we made a further statement about our commitment to inclusion. Audi understands the issue of inclusion in the sense of full integration management. The focus is not on the deficiencies of individual employees, but rather on their strengths and potential. Barriers should also be removed, so that even those with severe disabilities get natural access to the world of work at Audi. The Forum offers specific suggestions for the employment of people with disabilities in industry. For Audi, membership provides important access to experts and a platform for the exchange of views on inclusion issues.

Our company has been able to call itself a ‘Prout’ employer since 2018 when it became the first carmaker to join the ‘Prout at Work’ foundation. The foundation’s aims are in accord with our self-image: being open to all people, irrespective of sexual orientation, gender identity or characteristics. ‘Prout at Work’ champions equality for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) employees in the workplace. As a specific measure, the employee network queer@audi has been created.

Audi understands the topic of inclusion within the context of comprehensive integration management. The inclusion of disabled people has been the goal of the Diversity Strategy for years and is supported by joining the valuable 500 initiative. We ensure access to the Audi world of work through individual qualification programs, events and the dismantling of barriers. Employees with disabilities get tasks within the scope of operational possibilities in which they can optimally use and expand their skills. The percentage of disabled people is increasing for years now. Successful inclusion at audi is based on appreciation and a positive leadership culture.
